Yes, I sang with Sting. I know. What are the chances? I was just going to a concert at The Gorge Amphitheater with my employer, Unitus. We had special access to a sound check party due to the fact that Unitus was the sponsored charity for The Police tour. I've been to a lot of sound checks in my day, and well, I thought this would be the same. I figured that we would be observing from the back while they tested their mics and gear. But I was wrong. We actually got to go up on stage and meet the band. And then Sting called for singers to help him with the sound check. Well, I eagerly seized the moment and the rest is history. A casual free-for-all with three of us crowded around a microphone quickly turned into an electric moment when Sting heard my vocalizing and we began to sing together. He was obviously having a lot of fun with the whole thing and one song turned into two and then three and then a summons from the green room and finally a request to share the mic with him that evening. And so yes, it's true. I sang with Sting. In front of twenty thousand people on a summer's night at the outdoor amphitheater overlooking the beautiful landscape of the Columbia Gorge. Sting was smiling, and the band was kickin', and the crowd let out a roar when I began to sing. And I was home doing the thing that I was meant to do.
